We Are The Helping Hands You Need

Are you over 60 or have a disability and live in Benton County?

VIC offers immediate assistance in handling life’s daily living challenges. Even a temporary disability for individuals of any age is a reason to contact us.

How VIC Volunteers Help

Free transportation for medical appointments

Access to the outside world can become a challenge as one ages or experiences a disability. VIC Volunteers are willing to drive to Albany, Eugene, or Salem when necessary to get Care Receivers to their appointments.

Building wheelchair ramps, chair platforms, stairs & handrails

Our VIC Volunteers design and install wheelchair ramps, chair platforms, stairs, and handrails to enhance a Care Receiver’s ability to access or maneuver around their home.

Friendly visiting and companionship

Social visits from VIC Volunteers allow Care Receivers to have one-on-one time with a fellow community member. This valuable interaction feeds the soul and stimulates the minds of people who spend much time in isolation.

Keeping the pantry and refrigerator stocked

VIC Volunteers will drive Care Receivers on local shopping outings to gather household goods. If a Care Receiver would like a VIC Volunteer to shop on their behalf, we are happy to accommodate that request.

Transportation to run errands

VIC Volunteers will drive Care Receivers to local errands and personal care appointments. Many of our Care Receivers prefer not to ride public transportation and instead appreciate the time socializing with their driver while maintaining independence.

Respite care for family caregivers

For our Care Receivers with family or friends who care for them full-time, our VIC Volunteers will arrange an occasional visit while their in-home caregivers take time away for themselves.

Request a Ride, Shopping Assistance, or Social Visit

A three-day notice is required to schedule VIC assistance. Please call 541-714-0820 to make arrangements.

Getting the Help You Need

At VIC, we make it easy for our Care Receivers to request assistance. Unlike most social service organizations, you don’t need to fill out lengthy paperwork or wait in lines; we don’t require bank statements or proof of income.

Before a volunteer is dispatched to you, our Staff will conduct a detailed intake interview. At that time, we will hear your needs, assessing your situation to ensure our services are a good fit.

Need help getting up your front steps?

When someone is confined to a wheelchair or uses a walker, they encounter stairs, steps, inclines, and uneven terrain everywhere they go. Over the last 30 years, public spaces and businesses have become aware of these challenges, and improvements are now standard. But what about in a home, especially an older home?

Volunteer Interfaith Caregivers of Corvallis has a long history of building ramps for seniors and adults with disabilities. Other local nonprofits have scaled back this service in recent years, but not VIC. The demand is growing month by month to help homebound individuals in Benton County safely navigate in and out of their homes.

What if a sudden health crisis leaves a senior permanently confined to a wheelchair? Or, what if a car accident leaves a once able-bodied adult disabled? After a hospital stay, how will they navigate the steps that lead from the street to their front door when they return home?

These are the questions many individuals face and that our not-for-profit organization answers.

Do you have a referral for a potential Care Receiver we should meet?

We fill the gap in services that government-funded organizations sometimes cannot fill. We are happy to reach out to someone you think is a good candidate for our services.
